Clinical Supervision for LPC-Associates seeking licensure
State of Texas LPC-Associate process:
Masters or Ph.D. in counseling or psychology and completed all coursework and practicum as required by Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. (BHEC)
Pass the National Counseling Exam (NCE).
Interview potential supervisors. Complete a supervision contract form that both parties must sign.
Apply for LPC Licensure (also known as the temporary license). All LPC Associate documents are to be sent to the BHEC.
Obtain 3,000 total clock hours while under supervision, of which 1500 hours must be direct client contact during a minimum of 18 months.
Maintain accurate records of logged hours, supervised hours, and supervision notes.
Obtain insurance

LPC-Associate supervision includes:
Weekly individual or triadic supervision
Resources for clinical needs (i.e., charting, tracking, evaluating)
Guidance on counseling techniques, application of theories, case conceptualization, diagnosis and ethics.
Review case notes and/or recorded client sessions as needed.
Case management and treatment planning.
Phone or email consultation for emergency or time-sensitive situations.
Guidance on the LPC board rules.
